NCBI SERVICES CURRENTLY HAS A VACANCY FOR A PART TIME, TEMPORARY

COUNSELLOR / PROJECT ASSISTANT

The successful candidate will work 2 days (**Apply on the website**
hours) per week. Office base will be in one of our Dublin or regional
offices, but the successful candidate must ideally be prepared to
travel to the NCBI Head office for at least one day per week at a
later stage in the contract). The post is offered for an initial
6-month period following on from commencement, with the possibility of
a renewal for another 6 months (subject to review in late September,

Applicants should ideally hold a qualification in
Counselling/Psychotherapy (at least degree level) and be able to
evidence an excellent working knowledge of the MS Office suite.?This
role would also suit an individual who has a specific interest in
expanding their clinical knowledge of and experience in working within
communities with specific emotional needs and
considerations.?Experience working in a similar role in the not for
profit sector would be an advantage.

Currently all counselling is provided by Telephone. However,
candidates must be prepared to work online and face to face in the
futures should service parameters change.

ESSENTIAL

* IACP or BACP accredited practitioner or equivalent (E.G: PSI, BPS,
IAHIP, IPCP). _Documentation to be provided to NCBI._
* Regular professional clinical supervision. _Details of Supervisor
to be provided to NCBI_
* Suitable private and confidential space to conduct counselling by
telephone.
* A willingness to participate in Garda Vetting Procedures as
administered by NCBI.
* Experience working with clients living with sight loss, or a
willingness to attend a 2-day specific ?Counselling for Sight
Loss? training workshop (funded by NCBI)

PREFERRED SKILLS

* Skill in assessment issues and evaluation of assessment material
compiled by other counsellors;
* A willingness to administer and record outcomes using supplied
Outcome Measurement Documentation as provided by NCBI. Training will
be provided on same.
* Ability to work effectively within a time-limited counselling
model;
* Awareness of the emotional impact of sight loss; and prior
experience of working with clients living with sight loss as well as
their families/carers.
* Ability to refer Clients to other therapeutic resources, and
knowledge of local resources.
* Ability to work with NCBI clinical and Case management procedures:

JOB DESCRIPTION

COUNSELLOR/PROJECT ASSISTANT

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

_COUNSELLING DUTIES_

* Completion of clinical assessment of service users to determine
counselling needs and suitability for referral.
* Maintaining a client base of up to 8 clients in any given week.
* Provision of short term counselling to above.
* All associated admin duties relating to case management and
counselling.
* Assessment of clients for additional support services as directed
by Head of Counselling.

_SPECIFIC ADDITIONAL DUTIES_

* Assisting the Head of Counselling, Wellbeing & Emotional Support
with associated research relating to new wellbeing groups or
procurement of funding sources.
* Assistance with additional research and associated tasks on
counselling & wellbeing projects (as time allows)

Any other duties that the Head of Counselling, Wellbeing & Emotional
Support may require you to attend to as they arise.
